The Egyptian Real Estate Tax Authority has announced that the deadline for submitting tax returns with a 25% discount is September 30. This deadline applies to both residential and non-residential units, with the discount rate being 10% for non-residential units. According to the authority, taxpayers can also benefit from an additional 5% discount if they pay their taxes under the tax account.

The authority's head in Alexandria, Adel Nazih Ibrahim, revealed that the deadline was extended from an earlier date to September 30. He made the announcement during a meeting with members of the Alexandria Business Association, where he discussed the procedures for submitting tax returns through the authority's electronic application. Ibrahim also highlighted the benefits of submitting tax returns on time, including the waiver of late payment fees for previous years.

In a bid to facilitate tax payments for citizens, the authority has introduced an electronic application that allows taxpayers to submit their returns and make payments online. Ibrahim explained that taxpayers can also request an exemption from paying taxes if the market value of their residential unit is less than 8 million Egyptian pounds. This exemption can be requested at the same time as submitting the tax return.

During the meeting, attendees discussed various issues related to tax procedures, including the possibility of appealing against the tax value and the mechanisms for reassessment. Members of the Alexandria Business Association also raised several practical questions, such as whether a husband can register his wife's house and how to deal with private units that do not have separate facilities.

The meeting was attended by members of the Alexandria Business Association's board of directors, including Rami Fathy, deputy head of the Tax Committee. The association aims to enhance communication between the business community and government agencies, as well as raise awareness about procedures and services that can facilitate transactions and improve the business environment.

Ibrahim also presented a series of instructional videos prepared by the Real Estate Tax Authority to explain the steps for registering and using the electronic application. These videos aim to facilitate procedures for taxpayers and promote the use of digital services offered by the authority.

The deadline for submitting tax returns with a 25% discount is September 30. Taxpayers who miss this deadline will not be eligible for the discount. The authority encourages taxpayers to take advantage of the discount and submit their returns on time to avoid any late payment fees.
