The Egyptian poultry industry has seen significant growth in recent years, with investments exceeding 200 billion pounds. According to Dr. Tarek Soliman, head of the Animal Wealth and Poultry Development Sector, the industry provides direct and indirect job opportunities for around 3.5 million citizens. The sector has become a cornerstone of Egypt's food security and national economy.

On Thursday, September 24, 2026, poultry prices in Egypt stabilized, with prices ranging from 68 to 69 pounds per kilo in farms, according to Abdelaziz Sid, head of the Poultry Wealth Committee at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce. The government is working to support small and large producers, as well as open new export markets in Arab and African countries, and international markets.

Egypt has made significant strides in increasing its production of poultry and eggs. The production of table eggs reached 16 billion eggs, compared to 14 billion eggs in the previous year. The production of local breed chickens also increased by 12%, reaching 360 million birds. These numbers indicate a positive trend in the industry.

The prices of white chicken vary depending on the region, ranging from 85 to 90 pounds per kilo. Meanwhile, the prices of Romi chicken range from 150 to 160 pounds per kilo in the local market. The industry has seen a significant increase in the production of vaccines, with the capacity rising to 2.3 billion doses annually, compared to 120 million doses previously.

The prices of duck meat start at 130 pounds per kilo, while the prices of Minar Al-Saqa white chicken are 68 pounds per kilo. The prices of Saso chicken decreased by 5 pounds, reaching 105 pounds per kilo. These prices reflect the stability of the market, despite fluctuations in production and demand.

The Egyptian government is working to accelerate the process of opening new markets to absorb the surplus local production, given the boom in the poultry sector. The sector has witnessed significant growth, with the production of white chicken reaching 1.6 billion birds, compared to 1.4 billion birds in the previous year, representing a growth rate of 14%.

The prices of chicks in the local market are stable, ranging from 22 to 23 pounds per kilo. The poultry sector in Egypt includes more than 27,000 diverse farms, including egg production, broiler farms, and companies specializing in producing parent and grandparent stock. The industry is expected to continue growing, driven by government support and increasing demand.
