Egypt's poultry sector has witnessed significant growth in recent years, with investments exceeding 200 billion EGP. According to Dr. Tarek Suleiman, head of the Animal and Poultry Wealth Development Sector, the industry has seen a substantial surge in production and investment. The sector now comprises over 27,000 diverse farms, including those producing table eggs, broiler chickens, parent stock, and specialized companies producing parent and grandparent stock.

On Monday, October 5, 2026, poultry prices in Egypt remained stable, ranging from 75 to 76 EGP per kilo at the farm level, as reported by Abdelaziz El-Sayed, head of the Poultry Wealth Committee at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce. In contrast, white poultry prices varied between 90 and 95 EGP per kilo, depending on the region. The Ministry of Agriculture aims to expedite the opening of new markets to absorb the surplus local production, given the sector's remarkable growth.

The price of Rumi poultry ranged from 150 to 160 EGP per kilo in the local market. Egypt has made notable strides in increasing its production of table eggs, reaching 16 billion eggs, up from 14 billion the previous year. Additionally, the production of local breed poultry reached approximately 360 million birds, representing a growth of over 12%, according to Dr. Tarek Suleiman.

The price of duck meat started at 130-140 EGP per kilo. Egypt has successfully increased its production capacity for locally produced veterinary vaccines, rising to 2.3 billion doses annually, compared to just 120 million doses previously. This development was announced by Dr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.

According to reports, the price of Minar El-Saqa poultry stood at 75 EGP for white poultry, while Saso poultry was priced at 112 EGP. The poultry industry is a vital component of Egypt's food security and national economy. The government is working to provide support to small and large producers, as well as explore new export markets in Arab, African, and international markets.

The prices of chicks in the local market increased by about two EGP, ranging from 27 to 28 EGP. The poultry sector provides direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 3.5 million citizens. Egypt's production of white broiler chickens reached 1.6 billion birds, up from 1.4 billion the previous year, representing a growth rate of 14%, according to Dr. Tarek Suleiman.

The Egyptian government is committed to supporting the poultry sector, with a focus on small-scale breeders and large producers. The country's poultry industry has made significant progress in recent years, with a notable increase in production and exports.
