This decrease was announced by Abdelaziz El-Sayed, head of the poultry wealth department at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce. Meanwhile, local chicken prices are hovering around 140-145 EGP, and Saso chicken is selling for 140 EGP to consumers.
The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture is working to provide easy financing for breeders in collaboration with the National Bank of Egypt and the Egyptian Agricultural Bank. This initiative aims to support the purchase of production necessities such as feed, chicks, medicines, and veterinary vaccines. Additionally, the ministry is financing the development of breeding rooms, converting them from open to closed systems, which should increase production efficiency and economic returns.
The poultry sector in Egypt provides direct and indirect job opportunities for around 3.5 million citizens. According to Dr. Tarek El-Sleman, head of the animal and poultry wealth development sector, the production of white chicken has reached 1.6 billion birds, compared to 1.4 billion birds last year, representing a 14% growth.
Current poultry prices in the Egyptian stock exchange vary by region, ranging from 85 to 90 EGP per kilogram. The sector comprises over 27,000 diverse farms, including those producing table eggs, broiler chickens, parent stock, and companies specializing in producing parent and grandparent stock.
