The Egyptian Opera House, under the leadership of Dr. Reda El-Wakil, is celebrating its 38th anniversary with a grand performance at the Cairo Opera House on Saturday, October 10. The event, directed by Hisham El-Toly, will feature over 500 artists from various affiliated troupes, showcasing a diverse range of musical and dance performances. The evening will begin with the national anthem, followed by a segment of Arabic music led by Maestro Dr. Mostafa Helmy and Maestro Ehab Abdel Hamid.
The performance will include a selection of famous musical compositions, including "Days of Sadat," "Cities," "In a Day and Night," "My Mother," and "Egypt Talks About Itself." The artists performing these pieces include Ahmed Afift, Inas Ez Eldin, Kenzi, Mohamed El-Tokhy, and Asmaa Kamal. Additionally, the Cairo Opera Ballet, under the artistic direction of Armenia Kamel, will present scenes from ballets such as "Romeo and Juliet" by Sergei Prokofiev and "The Nile" by Omar Khairat.
The Cairo Opera troupe, led by its artistic director Julie Fizi, will perform excerpts from famous global operas, including "La Traviata," "Il Trovatore," and "Rigoletto" by Verdi, as well as "Faust" by Charles Gounod and "The Princess of the Czardas" by Kalmann. The performers will include Rasha Talat, Julie Fizi, Mustafa Madhat, Dalia Farouk, Mona Rafla, and Reda El-Wakil.
The evening's program will also feature the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Nader Abbas, performing "The Greatest Homeland" by Mohamed Abdel Wahab, as well as "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff and "Hymn to the Sun" by Mascagni. The performance will be accompanied by the Akapella Choir.
A documentary film showcasing the history of the Egyptian Opera House, from its establishment to the present day, will be screened during the event. The film, prepared by the montage studio and directed by Samer Mady, will feature rare scenes from the Khedivial Opera.
