The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has launched an initiative to offer 30 essential goods at discounted prices through its outlets across the country. The goal is to ensure the availability of basic goods and provide citizens with affordable options. The initiative, led by Minister Dr. Sherif Farouk, aims to reduce prices and make essential goods more accessible to the public.
The initiative includes a wide range of goods, such as sugar, rice, oil, and other staples. According to the Ministry, the discounted goods will be available at over 25 outlets in each governorate, with plans to expand to more locations in the coming period. The move is part of the government's efforts to support low-income households and stabilize the market.
The prices of the discounted goods have been set at significantly lower rates than those in the open market. For example, a kilogram of sugar is priced at 25 EGP, while a kilogram of rice is priced at 25 EGP. Other essential goods, such as cooking oil, pasta, and canned goods, are also available at discounted prices.
The Ministry has emphasized that the initiative will run for six months, during which time the prices of the goods will be closely monitored to ensure their availability and affordability. The Ministry has also urged citizens to report any irregularities or shortages of the discounted goods.
In addition to providing discounted goods, the Ministry is also working to improve the distribution network and increase the number of outlets selling the subsidized goods. This move aims to make it easier for citizens to access the goods and reduce the burden on low-income households.
According to Ali Hassan, Deputy Director of the Supply Directorate in Dakahlia Governorate, there are currently 25 outlets in the governorate selling the discounted goods, with plans to expand to more locations. He emphasized that the Ministry's primary goal is to provide citizens with high-quality goods at affordable prices.
The initiative has been welcomed by citizens, who are eager to benefit from the discounted prices. The Ministry has assured citizens that it will continue to work to ensure the availability and affordability of essential goods, and that it will closely monitor the prices and quality of the goods sold through its outlets.
