For French bread, the prices are: 50 grams for 2 Egyptian pounds, 40 grams for 1.5 Egyptian pounds, and 30 grams for 1 Egyptian pound. These prices are binding for all tourist and French bakeries.
The Ministry of Supply's monitoring devices continue to conduct field campaigns and regular inspections of tourist and French bakeries. These inspections involve undercover purchases and monitoring sales activities to identify and apprehend bakeries that violate the regulations. Abdel Naim emphasized that any bakery found to be manipulating prices or weights will face immediate legal consequences.
In cases of confirmed violations, the authorities will file a report and refer it to the Public Prosecution. Abdel Naim warned that those found guilty of raising prices will be penalized under Article 9 of Decree-Law No. 163 of 1950. Those who manipulate weights will be penalized under Article 2 of Law No. 48 of 1941, as amended by Law No. 281 of 1994.
