The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity recently organized a three-day training workshop for accredited journalists and media professionals on the strategic financial system for economic empowerment. The workshop was opened by Ayman Abdel Mowoud, the permanent representative and official spokesperson for the Ministry of Social Solidarity. He conveyed greetings and appreciation from Dr. Maya Marzouki, the Minister of Social Solidarity, emphasizing the important role of the media in raising awareness about developmental goals and supporting efforts to develop society.
During the workshop, Abdel Mowoud reviewed the general vision of the strategic financial system for economic empowerment and the Ministry's efforts in the fields of social protection and care, as well as the role played by the Central Unit for Associations and Civil Work. He also discussed the Ministry's efforts in digital transformation, which is one of the main axes of developing the work system by employing digital tools in managing and organizing data, improving service efficiency, and accelerating their delivery to eligible citizens.
Zina Tawil, the Executive Director of the "Qadrun bi-Khtilaf" Fund, participated in the second session of the workshop, reviewing the fund's role within the system and its objectives and activities. The fund aims to provide an integrated system of social protection, care, and development for people with disabilities, including economic, health, educational, and training support. The fund's efforts focus on empowering people with disabilities and enhancing their participation in society.
In the second day of the workshop, Engy Al-Yamani, the Executive Director of the Fund for Supporting Rural and Environmental Industries, reviewed the mechanisms of the strategic financial system for economic empowerment and the role played by the fund. She emphasized that the system relies on unifying national efforts and coordinating between various parties to provide services that aim to reduce poverty and reach the most needy areas.
Al-Yamani explained that the system aims to provide basic financial services, such as small loans, micro-insurance, and investment, in addition to other banking services. This aims to enhance the business environment for small and medium projects, create job opportunities, and support local economic stability. The fund works on building value chains within local communities, ensuring markets for products and supporting project sustainability.
The workshop concluded with a session on the efforts of the Nasser Social Bank within the strategic financial system for economic empowerment. Walid Al-Nahas, the Deputy Chairman of the Bank's Board of Directors, reviewed the bank's role in implementing economic empowerment policies. He explained that the bank's role goes beyond providing assistance or social services, as it provides financial tools that help beneficiaries establish income-generating projects and become productive groups capable of self-reliance.
Al-Nahas emphasized the bank's keenness to expand the scope of economic empowerment services and make them available to the largest number of beneficiaries. The bank has a network of 98 branches across the country, in addition to a strategic partnership with the Egyptian Postal Authority, which allows access to a network of about 4,700 post offices in various governorates. This expands the base of beneficiaries and provides financial and financing services.
