Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity has launched 30 scholarships for a diploma in counseling and psychological support for children and adolescents. This initiative is in line with the directives of Dr. Maja Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity, to develop the social care system and improve services for children and adolescents. The program aims to prepare specialized cadres in the field of counseling and psychological support.
The scholarships are offered in collaboration with Ain Shams University, as part of a cooperation protocol signed by Dr. Maja Morsi and Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abidin, President of Ain Shams University. The program targets raising the professional efficiency of social care workers and developing their skills in providing counseling and psychological support services. This will improve the quality of care provided to children in care homes and alternative families.
The scholarships are distributed as follows: 25 for specialists working at the Ministry of Social Solidarity and 5 for social or psychological specialists working in care homes affiliated with the Ministry. The program focuses on developing the skills of those working in social care and enhancing their ability to provide psychological and social support. The Ministry invites social and psychological specialists working in targeted care homes to apply for the five allocated scholarships.
Applicants must have a high qualification in social or psychological specialties and pass personal interviews conducted in coordination with Ain Shams University. Preference will be given to applicants with outstanding success stories in working with children in care homes. The program combines academic qualification, field training, and practical application to ensure integration between academic knowledge and practical application.
Ain Shams University will prepare the academic curricula, determine the credit hours, study regulations, and evaluation, and supervise the program academically. Graduates will receive a certificate accredited by the Higher Education Council. The program allows graduates to have a relative advantage when joining the Ministry's affiliated psychological support and counseling centers.
