The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity has introduced 30 scholarships for a diploma program in counseling and psychological support for children and adolescents. This initiative is a collaboration with Ain Shams University, as part of a protocol signed by Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya El-Sayed Morsi, and Ain Shams University President, Dr. Mohamed Diaa El-Din El-Abidin. The program aims to prepare specialized cadres in child and adolescent counseling and psychological support.

The scholarship distribution includes 25 for specialists working at the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Cairo and Giza social solidarity departments, and the Case Management Unit. Five scholarships are allocated for social or psychological specialists working in Ministry-affiliated care homes, including orphanages and social defense institutions, in Cairo and Giza. The program seeks to enhance the professional efficiency of social care workers and develop their skills in providing counseling and psychological support services.

The Ministry invites social and psychological specialists working in targeted care homes in Cairo and Giza to apply for the five available scholarships. Interested candidates can register through an interactive platform by sending a text message to 1442 with the word "scholarship" from October 11 to 15. They must complete the required data, and shortlisted applicants will be invited for personal interviews.

To be eligible, applicants must hold a high-level degree in social or psychological fields, such as psychology, sociology, or social service. They must also pass personal interviews conducted in coordination with Ain Shams University. Preference will be given to those with notable success stories in working with children in care homes.

The program combines academic qualification with field training and practical application. Theoretical lectures will be held at Ain Shams University's Faculty of Education, and practical training will take place at centers and institutions approved by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. This approach ensures a connection between academic knowledge and practical application in child and adolescent counseling and psychological support.

Ain Shams University will prepare the academic curricula, determine the credit hours, study regulations, and evaluation methods, and oversee the program academically. Graduates will receive a certificate accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities. The Ministry of Social Solidarity will offer graduates a relative advantage when joining its affiliated psychological counseling centers, according to the regulations and controls governing employment.

The initiative aims to improve the quality of care provided to children in care homes and alternative families, and enhance psychological and social support for them and their families. By developing the skills of social and psychological specialists, the program contributes to raising the level of services provided to vulnerable groups.
