The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity has introduced 30 scholarships for a diploma program in counseling and psychological support for children and adolescents. This initiative is a collaboration with Ain Shams University, aimed at developing the social care system and enhancing services for children and adolescents. The program aligns with directives from Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsi, to improve the quality of care provided.
The scholarship program is part of a cooperation protocol signed between Dr. Maya Morsi and Ain Shams University President, Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abidin. The goal is to prepare specialized cadres in child and adolescent counseling and psychological support. The program targets enhancing the professional efficiency of social care workers and developing their skills in providing counseling and psychological support services.
The 30 scholarships are allocated as follows: 25 for specialists working at the Ministry of Social Solidarity, Cairo and Giza social solidarity departments, and the Case Management Unit; and 5 for social or psychological specialists working in care homes affiliated with the Ministry in Cairo and Giza. These care homes include orphanages and social defense institutions.
The Ministry invites social and psychological specialists working in targeted care homes in Cairo and Giza to apply for the 5 allocated scholarships. Applicants must send a text message to 1442 with the word "scholarship" from October 11 to 15, and complete the required data. Personal interviews will be scheduled for eligible applicants.
To be eligible, applicants must have a high-level qualification in social or psychological fields, such as graduates of psychology, sociology, or social service departments. They must also pass personal interviews conducted in coordination with Ain Shams University. Preference will be given to applicants with notable success stories in working with children in care homes.
The program combines academic qualification with field training and practical application. Theoretical lectures will be held at Ain Shams University's Faculty of Education, alongside practical training at centers and institutions approved by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. This approach ensures a connection between academic knowledge and practical application in child and adolescent counseling.
Ain Shams University will prepare the academic curricula, determine credit hours, study regulations, and evaluation methods, and oversee the program academically. Graduates will receive a certificate accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities. The Ministry of Social Solidarity will offer a relative advantage to diploma graduates when joining its affiliated psychological counseling centers, according to the regulations.
