On September 27, 2026, the Minister of Endowments, Osama Al-Azhari, and New Valley Governor, Hanen Magdi, inaugurated the renovated Sabt Al-Kabeer Mosque in Kharga. Other attendees included Adly Abu Aqeil, General Secretary of the governorate, and Sheikh Ramadan Youssef, Director General of Endowments in the governorate. The inauguration was also attended by several members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Al-Azhari emphasized that the renovation of mosques is a top priority for the Ministry of Endowments. He stated that the Ministry aims to complete the mosque renovation program and enhance the infrastructure and services of mosques. This, he said, would enable mosques to perform their role as centers for worship and preaching, and to promote a correct understanding of Islam.
Governor Hanen Magdi expressed her appreciation for the mosque renovation project, which coincides with the celebrations of the October victories and the governorate's anniversary.
