Egypt's Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Randa El-Manshawy, recently chaired a meeting to review the progress of the presidential initiative "Housing for All Egyptians". The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Dr. Walid Abbas, Deputy Minister of Housing for Urban Communities, and Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing Fund and Real Estate Finance Support. The initiative aims to provide affordable housing for various segments of the population.
During the meeting, El-Manshawy emphasized that the "Housing for All Egyptians" program is a key component of the state's efforts to provide suitable housing for citizens. The ministry is working to develop and diversify housing programs and projects that cater to the needs and income levels of citizens. The goal is to provide housing units within integrated urban communities with services and facilities that enhance quality of life and achieve integrated urban development goals.
According to a report presented by Mai Abdel Hamid, the total number of housing units under the initiative is approximately 1,073,118. This includes 877,174 units that have been completed, 188,368 units under implementation, and 7,576 units to be offered. The completed units comprise 851,870 units for low-income citizens and 25,304 units for middle-income citizens.
Abdel Hamid further detailed that the units under implementation include 184,808 units for low-income citizens and 3,560 units for middle-income citizens. Additionally, 3,984 low-income and 3,592 middle-income units are to be offered. El-Manshawy stressed the importance of closely monitoring the implementation, offering, and allocation of housing units, as well as adhering to the specified timelines.
El-Manshawy also emphasized the need to ensure the quality of work and enhance implementation rates. She called for continued coordination between relevant authorities to guarantee the speedy completion of projects and the provision of units to eligible citizens according to the regulating rules and controls.
The minister further directed that attention be given to monitoring the level of services provided in areas where units have been completed and handed over. This aims to ensure the sustainable utilization of state investments in housing.
The meeting concluded with El-Manshawy's directives for continuous follow-up on the procedures for offering 15,000 rental units under the "Housing for All Egyptians 9" announcement. The Social Housing Fund and Real Estate Finance Support will handle the offering and address citizen inquiries.
