The Egyptian Grain Industry Chamber has proposed an initiative to supply flour to licensed tourist bakeries in coordination with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade. The meeting between the Grain Industry Chamber and the Minister of Supply addressed the availability of wheat and flour, as well as market demands for raw materials needed to produce tourist bread, "fino," pasta, and sweets. Discussions also focused on mechanisms to maintain market stability in the coming period. The Egyptian market consumes approximately 560,000 tons of wheat monthly.
The monthly wheat consumption is distributed among various sectors, including 200,000 tons for pasta production for local and export markets, 200,000 tons for tourist bakeries, village resorts, restaurants, and packaged flour. Additionally, 160,000 tons are used by sweets and biscuit factories, as well as baked goods manufacturers. The Grain Industry Chamber has expressed its readiness to supply licensed tourist bakeries with flour.
This initiative will be carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Supply, while ensuring a continuous supply of wheat to bakeries producing subsidized bread. This approach aims to maintain regular supplies and prevent market pressures. According to Al-Salamouni, a stable flour supply is crucial for maintaining production costs for tourist bread and "fino."
