The Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority has initiated a broad dialogue with concerned parties to develop services and procedures for the Egyptian Collateral Registry and its electronic work system. This move aims to assess the effectiveness of services provided by the registry and identify key observations and proposals to enhance efficiency. The goal is to facilitate financing procedures and promote the utilization of movable assets as collateral for financing.

The Authority conducted a survey among creditor entities to evaluate services, procedures, and the electronic system, as well as mechanisms for dealing with the registry. The responses included several observations and proposals that necessitated a detailed meeting to discuss them. The meeting, held at the Authority's headquarters, was attended by representatives from creditor entities and the company operating the registry.

The meeting, led by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Assistant Head of the Authority and Supervisor of the Egyptian Collateral Registry, discussed the technical and operational challenges presented by creditor entities. It also addressed the observations submitted by registry users and explored ways to develop services and improve the experience of creditor entities in dealing with the system.

The proposals will undergo technical and legal examination to determine implementation mechanisms and development priorities. This process will be carried out in coordination with the operating company and creditor entities to monitor progress and assess the impact on registry efficiency and ease of use.

These steps align with the Authority's direction towards continuous digital transformation and development of the technological infrastructure for non-banking financial services. The goal is to enhance the efficiency of the collateral registry system, support easy access to financing, and promote a business-friendly environment.

The number of registrations in the Egyptian Collateral Registry increased from 254,814 at the end of February 2026 to 285,015 by the end of August 2026, representing an 11.9% growth. The value of registrations also rose from approximately 4 trillion to 4.6 trillion Egyptian pounds during the same period, marking a 15.4% increase.

The Egyptian Collateral Registry is an electronic system that allows for the registration and publicity of security rights over movable assets. This registry aims to reduce financing costs, verification time, and credit risks while improving the quality of available information and transparency.
