Egypt's Financial Supervisory Authority, led by Dr. Islam Azzam, has approved the temporary licensing of two companies, Egypt Health Care Network and S One Medical Services, to manage healthcare programs. This brings the total number of temporary licenses granted for this activity to 11. The licenses allow these companies to operate in the Third Party Administration (TPA) sector.
The Authority has also approved the establishment of Med Mark, a company that will operate in the reinsurance brokerage sector. This move is part of the Authority's efforts to support and diversify entities operating in non-banking financial activities. The decisions aim to enhance the growth and development of the non-banking financial sector in Egypt.
In addition to the TPA and reinsurance brokerage licenses, the Authority has approved the registration of four companies, Zein for Inquiry and Collection, Al Riyada, SAZ, and Abu Shadi, in the financial receivables collection sector. This brings the total number of companies registered in this sector to eight. These companies will provide services to collect financial receivables on behalf of non-banking financial companies and entities.
The Authority has also approved the establishment of Mota Investment Group, a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC), which will operate in the venture capital sector. Another SPAC, Spark, has also been licensed to operate in the same sector. These companies aim to provide financing for startups and small and medium-sized enterprises.
In the investment fund sector, the Authority has licensed Amtlak Real Estate Investment Fund to operate as a real estate investment fund. This move aims to diversify investment products linked to the real estate sector. The Authority has also approved the establishment of Mogaz Agricultural Investment Fund, a multi-issue private equity fund.
These approvals are part of the Financial Supervisory Authority's role in regulating and supervising non-banking financial markets and instruments, including capital markets, futures contracts, insurance, mortgage finance, and leasing. The Authority's decisions are based on recommendations from the Companies Establishment and Licensing Committee.
The licensed companies are expected to play a significant role in promoting financial inclusion and supporting economic growth in Egypt. The Authority's efforts aim to create a conducive environment for companies to operate in the non-banking financial sector, while ensuring the protection of investors and consumers.
