Egypt's EGPC SCOUT recently hosted a meeting to review promising oil opportunities aimed at increasing production and developing aging fields. The event, which saw a significant turnout from investment and exploration officials, experts, and production companies in the oil sector, showcased the competitive advantages offered for available opportunities in the oil tenders. These opportunities range from exploratory ventures to developing realized discoveries and improving the productivity of old and aging fields.
During the opening speech, Geologist Ahmed Kamal, Deputy for Exploration at the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), emphasized that the gathering represents a good opportunity to confirm what has been achieved in the production field and the promising work plan to increase it. The meeting also allows for a dialogue on the offered investment opportunities, highlighting the implementation of geophysical surveys in the open areas of the Western Desert. These areas are under the EGPC's jurisdiction and have not previously been covered by updated studies.
Geologist Ahmed Abdo, Deputy for Agreements at the EGPC, stressed the importance of building on the successful results of the existing cooperation with partners. This includes adding new opportunities, such as the offered tenders, which are rich in promising oil prospects. He noted that this meeting, with its reliable partners, represents an opportunity to work together to achieve more positive results, supporting sustainable partnership.
Dr. Samir Shahab, General Manager of Exploration at the Badr Company, affiliated with Wibco, presented a case study titled "From Challenges to Promising Exploratory Opportunities." The study showcased how the BED-1 story represents a clear model for reviving depleted fields through an integrated exploratory vision. This vision relies on re-evaluating data and utilizing modern techniques, despite operational and geological challenges. The study highlighted the exploration of new opportunities within the Abu Roash and Bahariya formations, targeting unconventional reservoirs.
The results indicate that the field continues with reserves that support an increase in its production. One of the key success factors is the excellent integration between the exploration and operations departments to achieve increased production. The journey is ongoing towards discovering more opportunities and maximizing the value from current and new assets. The digital Egypt portal for exploration and production, EUG, presented an overview of "Oil Investment Opportunities in Egypt." These opportunities include various sectors distributed in the Mediterranean Sea, the Nile Delta, the Gulf of Suez, the Western Desert, the Eastern Desert, and the Red Sea.
The available opportunities also include developing realized discoveries in the Mediterranean Sea and developing aging fields in the Nile Delta and the Western Desert. Such initiatives aim to attract more investors and enhance Egypt's position as a promising destination for oil and gas exploration and production. The meeting provided a platform for dialogue and cooperation between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and its partners. This cooperation is essential for achieving the set goals and maximizing the benefits from Egypt's petroleum resources.
The EGPC SCOUT meeting demonstrated Egypt's commitment to optimizing its oil and gas sector. By offering competitive investment opportunities and fostering partnerships, Egypt aims to increase production and develop its aging fields. The country's efforts to enhance its exploration and production capabilities are expected to yield positive results, contributing to the growth and development of the sector.
