Egyptian Minister of Education and Technical Education, Mohamed Abdellatif, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Fund for Supporting, Financing, Managing and Constructing Educational Projects. The meeting aimed to follow up on the fund's activities and projects, as well as discuss several requests for support and financing. Abdellatif emphasized that the fund is a key tool for implementing the ministry's priorities, stressing the need to direct resources to the most urgent projects that address actual educational needs.
The minister highlighted the importance of linking project financing decisions to addressing urgent school and educational facility needs, focusing on projects that can significantly impact improving the learning environment and supporting the continuity of the educational process. During the meeting, Tarek El-Baz, director of the fund, reviewed the status of several projects and requests for support and financing, as well as items on the board's agenda.
The meeting approved several support measures, including financing the costs of general exams for the 2025/2026 academic year, specifically for the secondary and technical education sectors. The board also agreed to support the ministry's headquarters with 50% of the dues of teachers coming from abroad and those hired from retired teachers, to help address teacher shortages.
To support the technological infrastructure of schools, the board approved financing for the General Authority for Educational Buildings to provide 100 computers to schools in North Sinai Governorate. Additionally, the fund will support the connection of sewage services to the Gamal Hamad School for Excellence in Sciences and Technology in Suez Governorate.
The board also approved financing for the development of sports city buildings in Arish, North Sinai Governorate, and the upgrading of technical schools to applied technology schools. Furthermore, the fund will provide support for connecting electricity to four schools within the Bolak Al-Dakrour school complex in Giza Governorate.
In terms of equipping schools with facilities and necessities, the board approved the provision of 50,000 beds to equip classrooms that have been completed. The fund will also provide additional support to cover the costs of work carried out at the School of Excellence in Sciences and Technology in the Fifth Settlement.
On the financial and planning side, the board approved a memo on completing the preparation of the fund's planned budget for the 2026/2027 fiscal year and a memo on the fund's final account for the 2025/2026 fiscal year. This comes within the framework of the ministry's follow-up on spending directed to educational projects, linking financing to school and facility needs.
