e& Money, a service provided by e& Egypt, has seen substantial growth in the first half of 2026. According to the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, e& Money's share of total financial transactions executed through electronic wallets in Egypt rose to approximately 20% during this period. This marks a significant increase from 11% in the same period last year. The growth reflects the expanding use of digital financial services in Egypt.
The number of registered e& Money wallets reached 13.1 million by the end of the first half of 2026. This represents a considerable rise from 9.7 million wallets in the same period of 2025. Consequently, e& Money's share of the total registered wallets in the market increased to 23%, up from 21% previously. This growth indicates a notable expansion in the user base of e& Money.
e& Money also saw an increase in its share of active wallets, reaching approximately 24%. This growth in active users is accompanied by an increase in the actual usage of wallets for financial transactions. The service's share of total financial transaction value through electronic wallets rose to about 14% in the first half of 2026, up from 10% in the same period last year.
The overall electronic wallet market in Egypt experienced significant growth during the first half of 2026. The total number of financial transactions executed through electronic wallets increased by 62% to approximately 2.22 billion. The total value of transactions also rose by 56% to around 2.96 trillion Egyptian pounds. This growth highlights the increasing reliance on digital financial tools in Egypt.
e& Egypt attributes the growth of e& Money to its expanded financial and digital services. These include international money transfers, medical discount cards in collaboration with HealthTag, and installment services with Contact. These additions have broadened the use of e& Money beyond traditional money transfer services.
Ahmed Yehia, CEO of e& for Financial Technology and Digital Applications, noted that e& Money's performance reflects a shift in how digital financial services are used in Egypt. He emphasized that the growth is not just in the number of wallets but also in their active use for daily transactions. The company plans to continue developing new digital experiences to simplify and increase the flexibility of transactions.
Osama Abbas, Deputy Head of Financial Technology at e& Egypt, highlighted the importance of listening to customer needs in developing e& Money services. He stated that the platform aims to offer a comprehensive range of financial services, moving beyond the traditional concept of electronic wallets. The company has also adopted a fixed and unified fee system to enhance transparency and ease of use.
