In a ceremony attended by high-ranking officials, including Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, and Lieutenant Commander Tarek Adly Abdallah, head of the Damietta Port Authority, two new pilot boats, "Pilot 1" and "Pilot 2", were launched at Damietta Port. The event coincided with the celebrations of the glorious October victory. The new boats are part of the port's ongoing efforts to modernize its fleet and enhance its maritime capabilities.

The two pilot boats were manufactured by the Egyptian Company for Ship Repair and Construction. They are made of marine aluminum alloy, measuring 15.3 meters in length, 5.20 meters in width, and 1.4 meters in draft. Each boat is equipped with two engines, each producing 550 horsepower, allowing them to reach a maximum speed of 25 knots. The boats have a range of 500 nautical miles at cruising speed, providing high mobility and rapid response capabilities.

The pilot boats are equipped with advanced navigation equipment, including a marine radar, depth sounder, GPS, and Automatic Identification System (AIS). These features provide advanced navigation capabilities and contribute to improved operational efficiency and safety during maritime tasks. The boats also have a comprehensive safety and security system, including a system for recovering individuals from the water, enhancing protection levels during operations.

The launch of the two pilot boats marks a significant addition to the Damietta Port Authority's fleet, supporting its efforts to acquire modern, high-capability maritime units. This development enhances the port's readiness to handle operational and maritime service requirements efficiently. The boats will play a crucial role in guiding large vessels in and out of the port, ensuring safe and efficient navigation.

The Damietta Port Authority had previously received the two pilot boats after their construction was completed by the Egyptian Company for Ship Repair and Construction. The boats were transported to Damietta Port by land and then launched into the water at the port's maritime services berth. The addition of these boats brings the total number of pilot boats operating at the port to an unspecified number, further enhancing its maritime capabilities.

The launch of the pilot boats reflects the Egyptian government's efforts to modernize and develop the country's maritime infrastructure. The Damietta Port Authority's investment in modern, high-quality maritime units demonstrates its commitment to providing efficient and safe services to shipping lines and cargo owners. The port's ongoing development is expected to have a positive impact on Egypt's maritime trade and economy.

The new pilot boats are a testament to the capabilities of Egyptian companies in meeting the needs of the country's ports. The Egyptian Company for Ship Repair and Construction has demonstrated its ability to design and build high-quality maritime units that can compete in the global market. The launch of the pilot boats is a significant milestone in the development of Damietta Port and a reflection of the country's commitment to enhancing its maritime capabilities.
