Egyptian asset management firm CI Capital Asset Management (CIAM) has begun implementing its mandate to manage investments for the African Union's Peace Fund. This development follows the completion of the necessary stages related to the fund's investment and operational framework by the African Union. CIAM will manage a multi-asset portfolio investing both regionally and internationally. The African Union selected CIAM as one of two new investment managers for the fund after a competitive international process.
The selection process for managing the Peace Fund investments involved several stages, including technical and financial evaluation and due diligence. CIAM emerged as the successful bidder, beating out dozens of major asset management institutions from across the African continent. Notably, CIAM is the first Egyptian and North African company to be chosen to manage Peace Fund investments since its inception. The company will work alongside another selected investment manager.
According to Dr. Amr Abu El-Einen, CEO and Managing Director of CIAM, the activation of the mandate aligns with the company's goal of expanding its business internationally. CIAM aims to leverage its expertise and investment capabilities to offer solutions and products to a broader client base and institutions. The company is currently working on several new investment products targeted at regional and international markets.
Tarik Shahine, Managing Director and Head of Investment at CIAM, noted that the nature of the Peace Fund mandate, as a multi-asset portfolio investing regionally and internationally, aligns directly with CIAM's developed investment model and accumulated experience. CIAM has a comprehensive system that combines investment management, research, risk management, and operations, enabling efficient management of such institutional portfolios.
Ayman Amer, Managing Director and Head of Equities at CIAM, highlighted that the company's selection comes at a time of strong growth for CIAM. The company's assets under management increased to 183.6 billion Egyptian pounds by the end of June 2026, representing an 80% annual increase. This growth was driven by client investment inflows into managed funds and portfolios, as well as the continued launch of new products.
CIAM's revenue from asset management activities reached 387 million Egyptian pounds during the first half of the year, representing a 113% annual growth. The company maintained its leadership in the Egyptian market in terms of managed fund size, with a 32% market share, according to data from the Egyptian Investment Management Association as of the end of June 2026.
The Peace Fund, affiliated with the African Union, has chosen CIAM to manage its investments as part of efforts to enhance the fund's performance and achieve its objectives. The fund's diversified investment portfolio will be managed by CIAM in accordance with the company's investment approach and policies agreed upon with the African Union.
