Egypt's chemical and fertilizer exports have shown significant growth, reaching $8.25 billion during the period from January to August 2026. This represents a substantial increase of $1.92 billion, or 30.2%, compared to the same period in 2025, when exports totaled $6.34 billion. The Chemical and Fertilizer Export Council, led by Khaled Abu El-Makram, reported that the sector accounted for approximately 24% of Egypt's non-oil exports during the first eight months of 2026.

The fertilizer sector led the growth, with exports valued at $2.21 billion, up from $1.97 billion in the same period of 2025, representing a 12% increase. The petrochemicals group achieved the highest growth rate among the main product categories, with exports rising to $2.03 billion during January-August 2026, compared to $1.09 billion in the same period of 2025, marking an 86.2% growth rate.

Other chemical products also experienced significant growth, with organic chemicals increasing by 105.7% to $315.93 million, and inorganic chemicals rising by 38% to $642.73 million. Additionally, plastic products exports grew by 16% to $1.724 billion, while intermediate chemicals achieved a 40% growth rate, reaching $1.275 billion.

The export growth was also reflected in the distribution of Egyptian chemical and fertilizer products across various regions. The European Union maintained its position as the largest importer, with exports valued at $3.02 billion, representing 37% of the sector's total exports and a 20% growth rate. Meanwhile, exports to Asian countries, excluding Arab nations, surged by 85% to $2.10 billion, accounting for approximately 25% of the sector's total exports.

In terms of country-specific growth, Turkey remained the largest importer of Egyptian chemical and fertilizer products, with exports valued at $943 million during the first eight months of 2026, representing a 20.3% growth rate. India and China also emerged as significant growth markets, with exports to India increasing to $626.92 million, representing a remarkable 325.2% growth rate, and exports to China rising to $287.13 million, marking a 678% growth rate.

The growth in Egyptian chemical and fertilizer exports was widespread across various markets, with notable increases to several countries. Exports to Saudi Arabia grew by 98%, while exports to Spain and France increased by 56% and 16%, respectively. The United Kingdom also saw a significant growth rate, with exports rising by 163.1%.

The Chemical and Fertilizer Export Council reported that the top 10 markets for Egyptian chemical and fertilizer products accounted for approximately 56% of the sector's total exports, with a combined value of $4.62 billion, representing a 35.5% growth rate compared to the same period in 2025.
