The Egyptian animal feed market experienced price fluctuations on Monday, October 5, 2026. According to market traders, prices for poultry feed used in fattening operations varied between 23,500 and 25,200 pounds per ton, depending on the specific type of bird and age group. These prices were reported to be in line with market trends and transactions.

Market traders reported that the prices of various types of animal feed showed significant variation. For instance, feed for poultry used in egg production ranged from 19,000 to 21,500 pounds per ton. Meanwhile, prices for livestock feed ranged from 16,000 to 21,000 pounds per ton. Other types of feed, such as those for ducks, rabbits, and pigeons, were also reported to have varying prices.

The prices of raw materials used in animal feed production also showed fluctuations. Traders reported that the price of Brazilian and Argentine yellow corn, a key raw material, stood at 14,800 pounds per ton. In contrast, Ukrainian, Serbian, and American yellow corn prices were reported at 14,300 pounds per ton. The price of Argentine corn flakes was reported at 16,300 pounds per ton.

Traders also reported on the prices of other raw materials used in animal feed production. For example, cottonseed was priced at 24,500 pounds per ton, while linseed was reported at 25,000 pounds per ton. The prices of coarse bran and soybean hulls were reported at 14,500 and 15,000 pounds per ton, respectively.

The prices of soybean meal, a key protein source in animal feed, also varied. Traders reported that locally produced soybean meal with 44% protein content was priced at 25,800 pounds per ton. In contrast, soybean meal with 46% protein content, both locally produced and imported, was priced at 26,800 pounds per ton. Imported sunflower meal was reported at 20,000 pounds per ton.

According to Dr. Abdulaziz El-Sayed, head of the Poultry Wealth Chamber in the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, the prices of poultry feed ranged from 23,500 to 25,000 pounds per ton. He attributed the price variation to differences in quality, protein content, and logistical costs. El-Sayed also noted that imported corn prices had been fluctuating following its introduction to the commodity exchange.

The ongoing fluctuations in animal feed prices have been influenced by global factors, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Middle East conflict, and rising fuel prices worldwide. These factors have led major producers to divert corn to fuel production in North and South America, contributing to price volatility.
