Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met with Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivyie Ndengehongi on September 22, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The ministers exchanged views on enhancing peace, security, and development in Africa, particularly in the Nile Basin, the Horn of Africa, and the Great Lakes region. They agreed to enhance coordination in bilateral and multilateral frameworks to serve common interests and support stability and development in Africa.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of cooperation and integration in the Nile River to achieve mutual benefit, in accordance with international law. He rejected unilateral actions and emphasized that the Nile River is a shared water resource that must be managed according to international law, particularly the principles of non-harm and cooperation through prior notification and consultation.
