Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Essmat, has reviewed the work plans for South and North Sinai governorates, focusing on the development and modernization of the national electricity grid. Dr. Essmat stated that the electricity sector in Sinai has witnessed a significant leap, with investments amounting to approximately 57 billion pounds. These investments have contributed to the development of the electricity transmission and distribution networks, improving their efficiency and ability to absorb new loads and capacities. The ministry has implemented a number of projects, including the construction of 29 substations, with work underway to complete a new substation.

The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity, through the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company, has established a network of high-voltage transmission lines, overhead lines, and underground cables to connect substations and load centers in new development areas. Since July 2025, the ministry has completed the implementation of a number of overhead lines, with a total length of 3,000 km on extra-high voltage and 1,150 km on high voltage.
