The New El Alamein City in Egypt is set to host the El Alamein - Africa Forum, a significant business and economic event, from October 2 to 4. The forum, organized by Egypt in close collaboration with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), aims to bring together high-level leaders, ministers, and officials from the public and private sectors to foster African economic integration and sustainable development.
The inaugural edition of the El Alamein - Africa Forum has attracted around 1,500 participants, including leaders from the business community and African investors. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is scheduled to open the forum and chair a summit of the founding countries of the African Union Development Agency (Nepad). The event is expected to provide a platform for discussions on vital sectors such as infrastructure, trade, and digital innovation.
The forum's primary objective is to transition from identifying development priorities in Africa to mobilizing resources, investments, and partnerships necessary to translate these priorities into tangible projects and outcomes. It also seeks to facilitate direct communication between governments, business communities, investors, and financial institutions. A key component of the forum is an exhibition showcasing major projects, investment opportunities, and African sectors.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty emphasized that the El Alamein - Africa Forum serves as a unified African platform for the private sector, investment and financial institutions, and various production and service sectors. This platform enables direct connections between companies and markets, exploration of cooperation opportunities, and development of cross-border partnerships.
The forum's agenda includes a range of high-level meetings, including the eighth mid-year coordination meeting of the African Union. African leaders, businessmen, and representatives from the public and private sectors are expected to attend, reflecting Egypt's comprehensive vision for linking political, economic, and institutional tracks of African work.
The El Alamein - Africa Forum was established based on a decision by the African Union summit in February 2026 to hold the forum biennially in the New El Alamein City. This aligns with a series of high-level African events hosted by Egypt, aiming to drive transformative change across key African sectors.
The forum's discussions will focus on critical areas such as infrastructure, trade, digital innovation, and emerging industries that are reshaping Africa's economic identity. With over 20 heads of state and government representatives in attendance, the event is poised to make a significant impact on Africa's economic trajectory.
