The fifth edition of Egypt's mining forum is set to commence on Monday in the new capital, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the event will take place on September 28-29. This year's forum is the largest since its inception, themed "Unlocking Egypt's Exploratory Potential and the Nubian Arab Shield." The opening ceremony will feature a keynote speech by Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi, alongside other prominent figures from global mining companies and organizations.

Minister Karim Badawi emphasized that the forum serves as an international platform to showcase Egypt's promising investment opportunities in the mining sector. He highlighted the country's rich mineral resources and the reforms implemented to create a more attractive investment climate. These reforms, directed by President El-Sisi, aim to encourage exploration, mining, and the establishment of industries that maximize the value added from mineral resources. Badawi noted that these efforts have sparked increased interest from global companies in Egypt's mining sector.

The forum will witness the participation of top investors and mining companies from Egypt, the Arab world, and globally. Several ministers and officials from Arab and African countries will also attend. On the second day, a roundtable discussion led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli will focus on exploring investment opportunities and fostering partnerships with investors. The discussion aims to enhance coordination among relevant authorities to attract necessary investments and optimize Egypt's mineral wealth.

During the forum, the results of the investment opportunities offered by the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority in June will be announced. These opportunities include gold, phosphate, talc, and kaolin exploration and mining. The announcement reflects the government's efforts to develop mechanisms for allocating mining areas and streamline procedures for investors. This move is expected to expedite exploration and extraction activities.

Prior to the forum's opening, Minister Karim Badawi will chair a high-level roundtable discussion of the African Mineral Strategy Group (AMSG). The meeting will bring together African mining ministers, leaders, and officials, as well as company representatives and investors. The focus will be on enhancing cooperation between governments and investors to ensure optimal utilization of mineral resources and accelerate growth in the mining sector.

The discussions will cover various aspects of mining activities, from studies and exploration to production and the establishment of value-added industries. The mining sector's growing importance in African economies and its role in driving development, attracting investments, and enhancing mineral value chains will also be addressed. Egypt's hosting of the forum underscores its commitment to fostering a conducive investment environment in the mining sector.

The fifth mining forum is expected to provide a significant platform for dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders. With its comprehensive agenda and high-profile participation, the event is poised to contribute to the growth and development of Egypt's mining sector. The forum's outcomes are anticipated to have a positive impact on the country's economy and its position as a key player in the global mining industry.
