Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth has announced that the country possesses one of the world's largest phosphate reserves. According to Engineer Mahmoud Naji, spokesperson for the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Wealth, Egypt is working to maximize the utilization of its mineral resources. The country aims to move beyond exporting raw materials and instead focus on establishing related industries to increase added value.

The current strategy seeks to achieve integration between mineral resources and mining industries. As a result, the Egyptian Mineral Wealth Authority is now also associated with mining industries. This allows for a comprehensive approach to the supply chain, encompassing various resources such as kaolin, talc, gold, and others. Naji highlighted that over 74 sectors are dedicated to phosphate, kaolin, and talc, while 261 sectors are focused on gold.

These sectors are open to investors for exploration and development. The expansion of exploration efforts coincides with the implementation of aerial surveys aimed at identifying new reserves and mining resources within Egypt. The last aerial survey was conducted in the 1980s, and the government is now undertaking new exploration initiatives to assess the country's mineral wealth.

In the gold sector, Naji noted that efforts are no longer limited to the Sukari mine. Multiple projects are underway, and new agreements are expected to be announced in the near future. Egypt has had gold reserves for thousands of years, but exploration in this sector requires significant time. The process typically begins with small-scale investors who conduct initial surveys and estimate reserves.

Once a discovery is deemed commercially viable, larger companies become involved to develop and produce the resource. Currently, several companies are engaged in the exploration phase, and Naji expressed hope that they will soon transition to production stages. This development would support the growth of the mining sector and enhance the utilization of Egypt's mineral resources.

The Egyptian government is committed to promoting the mining sector and attracting investment. By conducting aerial surveys and offering sectors for exploration, the government aims to unlock the country's mineral potential. The phosphate reserve is a significant asset, and the government seeks to capitalize on this resource by developing related industries.

As the mining sector continues to evolve, Egypt is expected to uncover new opportunities for growth and development. The country's mineral wealth, including phosphate and gold, holds great promise for the future. With ongoing exploration efforts and a focus on industrial development, Egypt is poised to maximize its mining resources and create new economic opportunities.
