The Egyptian Ministries of Finance and Education have announced plans to increase teachers' salaries in the upcoming academic year. According to a statement released on October 5, 2026, the ministries are coordinating to improve teachers' financial conditions, with a focus on supporting their stability. The increase aims to enhance teachers' incomes and acknowledge their role in the education system.

Egyptian Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kujok, and Minister of Education, Mohamed Abdel Latif, met on October 5, 2026, to discuss the details of the salary increase. They emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two ministries to implement the necessary financial and organizational measures. The ministers highlighted their commitment to supporting teachers and improving their financial situations.

The October 2026 salaries for state employees will be disbursed starting from October 22, 2026, instead of the initially planned October 24. Employees can collect their salaries from ATMs according to the scheduled dates for each government agency, using the electronic payment system. This change aims to facilitate the salary collection process.

A teaching incentive, valued at 2100 Egyptian pounds per month, will be provided to eligible teachers starting from October 1, 2026. This incentive will be paid for nine months annually, until June 30. Previously, the incentive was 1000 pounds, and the recent increase is part of the government's efforts to enhance teachers' financial benefits.

To qualify for the teaching incentive, several conditions must be met. These include completing the required weekly teaching hours, having a minimum of 18 working days in the month, receiving a satisfactory performance evaluation, and not having any significant disciplinary actions taken against them. Additionally, the incentive will be paid from the state's budget for employee salaries and benefits.

The Egyptian government has also set regulations for contract teachers, with a defined payment of 50 pounds per teaching hour, up to a maximum of 96 hours per month. The total monthly remuneration cannot exceed 4800 pounds, including legal deductions. These regulations aim to organize the payment of contract teachers based on the number of hours they work.

Egypt's minimum wage for state employees, effective July 2026, varies by job grade. The minimum wage ranges from 14,900 pounds for the Excellent grade to 8100 pounds for the Sixth grade. These values are subject to verification against official decisions regulating wages to ensure accuracy.
