Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for Immigration and Expatriate Affairs, Ambassador Nabil Habshi, signed a letter of intent with the Saxony Ministry of Economy and Labor to facilitate the transfer of Egyptian workers to the state. Ambassador Habshi also met with German Minister of State for Economic Cooperation and Development, Johann Saathoff, to discuss ways to enhance Egyptian-German cooperation in vocational education, training, and labor migration. The two officials emphasized the importance of developing the Egyptian-German Center for Jobs, Migration, and Reintegration to serve as a comprehensive platform for qualifying Egyptian workers and linking them to labor market needs.
During the meeting, Ambassador Habshi highlighted Egypt's efforts to host millions of refugees and provide basic services to them, stressing the importance of sharing burdens with European partners while expanding safe and organized migration pathways. He also praised the role of the Egyptian-German Center in promoting cooperation in recognizing Egyptian qualifications.
Minister Saathoff expressed Germany's commitment to strengthening its development partnership with Egypt, citing the country's pivotal role in the region. He noted that the German labor market needs skilled workers and expressed willingness to expand cooperation in areas of labor migration and joint vocational training, in preparation for the upcoming Migration Forum in Egypt.
The first day of Ambassador Habshi's visit concluded with an open meeting with the Egyptian community in Germany, where he discussed key issues and challenges facing them. He also reviewed the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration to develop services and initiatives for Egyptians abroad and enhance communication channels with them.
