Egypt's Tourism Development Authority (TDA) has issued 16 final allocation decisions for investment land in the South Magawish Tourism Center, south of Hurghada in the Red Sea Governorate. The allocated land covers a combined area of more than 1 million square meters. These allocations are for integrated hotel, tourism services, and entertainment projects, which will be implemented according to approved development schedules.
Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Menshawy stated that the government is focused on maximizing the tourism and investment potential of Egypt's destinations. The goal is to create an environment that supports investment and the development of integrated projects. El-Menshawy added that expanding tourism projects is part of the state's efforts to increase hotel room capacity and strengthen the capabilities of tourism cities and centers.
Mostafa Abdel Wahab, CEO of the TDA, provided further details on the allocation decisions. The 16 plots within the tourism center's master plans have a combined area exceeding 1 million square meters. The projects are expected to add around 856 hotel rooms and professionally managed accommodation units. Additionally, one existing project will expand its capacity to 946 hotel units.
The allocated projects also include the development of two water parks, or aqua parks. One of the water parks will be operated by an international operator. Furthermore, the projects will feature tourism service centers and upscale entertainment areas. These are aimed at supporting existing and future tourism developments and diversifying the range of tourism products and services available to visitors.
According to Abdel Wahab, the TDA will continue to monitor the implementation of these projects in line with the approved timelines. The goal is to ensure that the projects are completed and brought into operation as scheduled. Such investments are expected to support economic activity and create additional job opportunities.
The Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, along with the General Authority for Tourism Development (GATD), is working to facilitate procedures and monitor project implementation. The expansion of tourism projects is part of the state's strategy to boost the tourism sector and enhance its contribution to the economy.
The new tourism projects in Hurghada are expected to significantly contribute to Egypt's tourism industry. With the addition of 856 hotel rooms and the expansion of existing projects, the sector is likely to see a substantial increase in capacity. The development of water parks, tourism service centers, and entertainment areas will further enhance the appeal of Hurghada as a tourist destination.
