On October 3, 2026, Ecobank Togo, a subsidiary of the pan-African institution Ecobank, marked its 40th anniversary celebration with a ceremony at its headquarters in Lomé. The event, dubbed "Journée Ecobank 2026," saw the bank donate computers and internet kits to 100 young Togolese. The recipients included 80 meritorious high school graduates from the Grand Lomé region and 20 outstanding students from the Lycée d'Ablogamé.

The ceremony, themed "Génération Ecobank 40," aimed to recognize and empower the next generation of leaders. The event featured discussions on orientation, employability, digital skills, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, financial literacy, leadership, and initiative-taking. These sessions were led by Ecobank's Director-General, Jeremy Awori, as well as other experts and volunteers from the bank.

The initiative aligns with Ecobank's triennial campaign, "Transformer l'Afrique grâce à l'éducation," which focuses on digital education and future skills. The bank's efforts are also in line with the Togolese government's educational roadmap. Patibouyou Kirong, Cabinet Director of the Ministry of National Education, commended Ecobank for its commitment to supporting young people and promoting digital skills.

Kirong emphasized that the government's investments in education require strategic partnerships with institutions like Ecobank to achieve its goals. He encouraged the bank to continue financing projects for young people with technical and vocational training. The government official also urged the recipients to make the most of the opportunities provided by Ecobank.

Adudé Fafa Akué-Komlan, Managing Director of Ecobank Togo, highlighted the significance of the 2026 edition, which marks the bank's 40th anniversary. She congratulated the 100 recipients, stating that their success is a testament to their hard work and dedication. Akué-Komlan emphasized that Ecobank aims to celebrate not only the recipients' achievements but also their potential.

The Managing Director noted that the world is undergoing rapid transformation, with technological innovations and digitalization changing the way people work, learn, and interact. She stressed that young people must adapt to these changes and acquire the necessary skills to succeed. Ecobank's initiative aims to support this goal by providing the recipients with the tools and resources they need to thrive in the digital age.

Through this initiative, Ecobank Togo has demonstrated its commitment to empowering young people and promoting digital skills in the country. The bank's efforts have already made a positive impact, improving the learning environment for 4,000 young Togolese. The donation of computers and internet kits is expected to have a lasting impact on the recipients, enabling them to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the digital economy.
