The Border Clerk will also liaise with drivers to obtain necessary information or documentation, track trucks awaiting clearance, and maintain an updated truck movement and status register.
To qualify for the position, candidates should have a certificate or diploma in Logistics, Clearing & Forwarding, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Previous experience in border, transport, logistics, or clearing and forwarding operations is an advantage. The ideal candidate should also possess good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and email, as well as basic understanding of border and cargo clearance processes.
The successful candidates will be required to maintain accurate records of trucks received, cleared, pending, and dispatched from the border, and provide daily reports on truck movements, pending trucks, and reasons for delays. They will also be responsible for supporting the retrieval, scanning, filing, and transmission of border and shipment documents, and maintaining proper custody and confidentiality of company and client documents.
In terms of skills and experience, the ideal candidate should have strong communication and coordination skills, good record-keeping and reporting ability, and strong follow-up and problem-solving skills. They should also be able to work under pressure, maintain integrity and confidentiality, and demonstrate teamwork and interpersonal skills. The ability to work flexible hours depending on truck movements and operational requirements is also essential.
