DStv has introduced a new Movies and Series package in Eswatini, providing subscribers with more viewing options at different prices. The package will cost E500 per month and will feature channels such as M-Net, movie channels, Discovery Channel, and BBC Earth. This new offering is part of a revamped DStv line-up aimed at catering to different viewing preferences and budgets. The changes are part of a wider update by MultiChoice Group, a Canal+ company.
The new package replaces DStv Compact as a general entertainment option and brings together content for viewers who prefer films and television series. The refreshed movie offering will include M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars, and M-Net Legends, with more blockbuster films, quicker access to new releases, and fewer repeats. According to MultiChoice Eswatini Managing Director Phumi Drummond, the changes follow feedback from customers who wanted packages that better matched the content they watched.
The new Movies and Series package is designed to give viewers clearer choices, whether they prefer local stories, international productions, or a mix of both. The package will offer subscribers access to a selection of films, series, and documentaries in one package. Drummond stated that the aim was to make DStv more accessible by giving customers options based on their interests rather than requiring them to pay for channels they rarely watched.
The changes will also affect entry-level viewers, with DStv Access becoming DStv Starter. The revised package will add 10 channels, including Wethu+, which will offer local and international series previously available on higher packages. This change is expected to provide more options for viewers who want to access local and international content.
Meanwhile, DStv Family will become DStv Select, bringing together entertainment options for households, including films, local and international series, and children’s channels. The new line-up is designed to give viewers clearer choices and provide more affordable access to content. MultiChoice also plans to continue investing in African productions, with ‘Spinners’ season two among the titles viewers can expect.
According to Drummond, the company has reworked its packages to reflect changing viewing habits and provide more affordable access to content. The new packages will launch under the DStv Expect+ campaign on November 5. The changes are expected to provide more value to subscribers and give them better access to the entertainment they love.
The new DStv packages are expected to be well-received by subscribers in Eswatini, who will have more options to choose from based on their interests. With the introduction of the new Movies and Series package, subscribers will have access to a wider range of content, including films, series, and documentaries. The changes are part of MultiChoice’s efforts to provide more tailored entertainment options to its subscribers.
