The Woefie Wandel Dog Walk and Pet Fair, sponsored by Absolute Pets, took place at Green Point Park and drew a large crowd of 1,080 people and 802 dogs. The event was well-attended, with participants showing their support for the cause. Abraham described the scene as having "long legs, short legs, old friends and new ones, and an extraordinary number of wagging tails as Cape Town came out in force."
The event was opened by Alderman JP Smith, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, who emphasized the importance of responsible companion animal care. He also acknowledged the tireless work of SPCA inspectors across Cape Town, who often respond to emergency calls at short notice to rescue mistreated animals.
