On October 1, Djibouti's Minister of Energy, Dr. Djama Mohamed Hassan, presided over the closing ceremony of two training sessions focused on renewable energy and photovoltaic systems. The sessions, which ran from September 27 to October 1, aimed to enhance the technical skills of national energy sector engineers and officials. These training programs were developed in collaboration with Egyptian experts.
The training sessions covered modern renewable energy technologies, as well as the design, sizing, installation, and maintenance of photovoltaic systems. Participants gained familiarity with the various stages of the solar value chain, from load calculation to commissioning and maintenance of installations. This initiative is part of Djibouti's efforts to develop its renewable energy sector.
The closing ceremony was attended by Egyptian Ambassador to Djibouti, Abdelrahman Raafat Khattab, Egyptian trainers, high-ranking officials from the ministry, and program beneficiaries. The event began with a reading of a verse from the Holy Quran, followed by speeches from various officials. Egyptian program coordinator, Neesma Mohamed, highlighted Egypt's experience in capacity building for African electric sector professionals.

She noted that over 183 Djiboutian trainees have benefited from 58 training sessions on various topics. These actions represent an important aspect of energy cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Abdelrahman Raafat Khattab stated that the program goes beyond its technical dimension, illustrating Egypt's commitment to developing its partnership with Djibouti through expertise sharing and human resource development. He praised efforts to develop the national energy sector and expressed his country's willingness to promote new initiatives for the benefit of the population.
Dr. Djama Mohamed Hassan expressed gratitude to Egypt for its constant support and the quality of skills transfer provided by its experts. He thanked the trainers for their availability and professionalism during the five-day training sessions. The minister congratulated the participating engineers and officials, encouraging them to apply their acquired knowledge in their professional activities.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants by the Minister of Energy, the Egyptian Ambassador, and the trainers. These training sessions aim to support Djibouti's national policy in favor of clean energies while strengthening the skills necessary for energy transition. The initiative demonstrates cooperation between Djibouti and Egypt in a strategic area, based on expertise sharing and renewable energy development.
