The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria–D7G (DICON-D7G) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria's domestic capacity to safeguard the country's territorial integrity and national interests. In an Independence Day message, DICON-D7G CEO Chennar Osman emphasized the importance of collective commitment toward building a stronger, more secure, and prosperous Nigeria. Osman felicitated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigerians, acknowledging the sacrifices of citizens and the efforts of the Armed Forces and security agencies.

Osman highlighted the significance of Nigeria's 66th anniversary of independence, which provides an opportunity for citizens to celebrate the country's resilience while reflecting on their responsibilities to move the nation forward. He stressed the need for unity, especially during a time when the country faces economic, security, and social challenges. Osman urged Nigerians to look beyond their differences and strengthen the shared values that bind the country together.

The DICON-D7G CEO emphasized that national development is a collective duty requiring the participation of citizens, businesses, professionals, institutions, and stakeholders. He encouraged Nigerians to work together to build a stronger domestic industrial base, promoting innovation and creating sustainable opportunities for the country's growing population of young professionals. This, he believes, will strengthen national security and create opportunities for Nigerian engineers, professionals, and manufacturers.

DICON-D7G expressed support for efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria's domestic capacity to safeguard its territorial integrity and national interests. The corporation is working with Eagles International for Defence Systems to increase technology transfer, expand domestic manufacturing capacity, and reduce Nigeria's dependence on imported military hardware. This partnership aims to develop local capacity in defence and other strategic industries.

Osman noted that Nigeria has undergone significant transformations since attaining independence from British colonial rule on October 1, 1960. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by previous generations and the responsibility of the present generation to preserve, strengthen, and improve the nation for future generations. The anniversary serves as a reminder of the country's journey and the need for collective effort.

The Independence Day message comes amid ongoing national conversations on security, economic recovery, unemployment, infrastructure, industrialisation, and institutional development. DICON-D7G's commitment to supporting domestic capacity is seen as a crucial step toward addressing these challenges. The corporation's efforts aim to promote national unity, stability, and development.

Key to DICON-D7G's strategy is the development of local capacity in defence and other strategic industries, which will create opportunities for Nigerian professionals and manufacturers.
