Mulani Isabirye, a 26-year-old gospel artist and journalism student at Uganda's UMCAT, has overcome significant obstacles to achieve his goals. Born in Jinja in 2000 and raised in Kamuli, Mulani lost his sight at a young age due to a wrong drug administered during a measles infection. Despite this challenge, he has learned to navigate his surroundings and live independently. With the support of his mother and organizations like Children of Grace, Mulani has pursued his education and developed his passion for music.

Mulani's educational journey has been marked by determination and resilience. With the help of Children of Grace, he attended Spire Road Primary School, an inclusive school for both sighted and visually impaired pupils. He then went on to Martin Nkoyoyo, where he sat for his Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), and later attended St Francis Madela School in Soroti, a school exclusively for the blind. Currently, Mulani is studying for a diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication at UMCAT, having completed a certificate program in May.

Music has played a vital role in Mulani's life, providing an outlet for his creativity and a means of supporting himself and his family. As a child, he loved singing and would often master and perform songs by others. With the encouragement of his mother, Mulani began writing his own songs in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. His first recorded song, "Kyakuwa," was released in 2020 with the support of Joseph Mabonga, the manager of the organization that pays his fees.

Mulani's music career has gained momentum in recent years, with the release of several songs, including "Mbiguni Kwanzaa," "Bwolidda," "Nazuula," "Akola," and "Sitye." His music has been supported by various individuals and organizations, including Gospel Heartbeat and manager Jane the Chief, who is based in Manchester, UK. Mulani has also performed on several big stages, including Joseph Ngoma's concert, Victory Church, and House of Prayer.

Despite facing numerous challenges, Mulani remains optimistic about his future. He plans to establish his own music studio and start a music band, with the goal of spreading God's message through his music. Mulani also hopes to organize a concert that will showcase his talents and allow people to connect with his music.

Mulani's story serves as an inspiration to people with disabilities, demonstrating that with faith, determination, and support, they can overcome obstacles and achieve their goals. As he looks to the future, Mulani remains grateful for the blessings he has received and is committed to using his talents to serve God and uplift those around him.
