The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Delta State has intensified its sensitisation campaign across the nine local government areas of the Delta North senatorial district. The campaign aims to garner support for the party's candidates in the 2027 elections. Stakeholders are urging voters in the state to fully support the party's candidates. This appeal was made by the Delta North NDC Elders, Leaders, and Stakeholders Council during an expanded meeting held in Kwale, Ndokwa West local government area.

The Chairman of the council, Chief Alex Ikpeazu, stated that the leaders and stakeholders have decided to broaden the council's membership and enhance efforts to support the party and all its candidates. The council was established to back NDC candidates at all levels and provide a clearer understanding of their objectives and the expected benefits for the masses. Ikpeazu explained that the meeting was organized to show support for Peter Obi, Dacon Chris Iyovware, and all other candidates.

The meeting aimed to engage traditional institutions, community leaders, professional bodies, youths, women, and other stakeholders to ensure citizens understand the rationale behind the formation of NDC and its positive implications for the state and country. The secretary of the Council, High Chief Sony Neme, stated that the meeting was more than mobilisation, as it created an opportunity for stakeholders to interact, network, and discuss issues affecting the country.

Chief Neme said the participants were gathered as patriotic Nigerians meant to play a more active role in determining the political direction of Delta State and the country. They expressed confidence in the leadership of Obi, Iyovware, Victor Ochei, and other candidates. One of the participants, Chief Steven Ikpade, said their mobilisation would continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The host, Chief Emma Ogbe, reiterated the Council's commitment to the success of NDC at all levels, revealing that the Diaspora EXCO will be inaugurated in the next meeting. According to Ikpade, the large turnout demonstrated the willingness of stakeholders in Delta north to participate in activities that promote community interaction and national development.

Distinguished leaders and stakeholders spoke on the need for a change of political direction. They include Chief Alfred Okoruwe, leader of IKA South delegation; Mr. Kenneth Rafua, Secretary General of Delta APC legacy group; Oshimili South State House of Assembly Candidate and Chief Eluaka; Ika Federal Constituency NDC Candidate, among others. Others visibly present at the occasion were Prof Godwin Isitor, Hon Obi Okoh, Pastor Stanley Ofulue, Comrade Tony Osu, Engr Emeka Okonkwor.

The NDC's efforts to gain support from voters in Delta State are part of its strategy to expand its presence in the region. With the 2027 elections approaching, the party is working to strengthen its base and build alliances with various stakeholders. The outcome of these efforts will be crucial in determining the party's performance in the elections.
