General Theophilus Danjuma, a retired army general, has urged residents of Adamawa to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in the 2027 general election. Danjuma made the appeal in Yola, during the 20th anniversary celebration of the Adamawa Government House Chapel. He was represented by General Ishaya Bamaiyi. Danjuma commended the Tinubu administration for appointing more Christians to key government positions, contributing to the country's progress and development.

Danjuma also donated N250 million for the expansion of the Adamawa Government House Chapel and the construction of residences for its chaplain and deputy. The donation was announced during the anniversary celebration, themed 'Thus far has the Lord helped us'. The event brought together top government officials, former governors, religious leaders, and dignitaries from across the state. Danjuma commended the founding fathers and organisers of the anniversary for their vision and commitment to the Chapel's growth.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, urged youths to shun political thuggery and promote peaceful conduct ahead of the 2027 general election. She advised young people not to allow politicians to exploit them for selfish interests. Mrs Tinubu was represented by the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta. The Deputy Governor said the governor wants the Chapel to remain a unifying platform for Christians across all denominations.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri urged members of the Chapel to sustain its spiritual activities and ensure the fire on the altar continues to burn. He added that God's presence would guide the government and inspire development and peaceful coexistence. The governor emphasized that Adamawa belongs to all residents, who must join hands to ensure the state's progress and live together in harmony.

Former Governor Boni Haruna, who originated the Government House Chapel, explained that it was established in 2005 to fulfil the original architectural design of the Government House complex. The design provided for two places of worship, a mosque and a chapel, to address historical imbalance. Haruna expressed hope that the Chapel would remain a symbol of unity for all residents.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr Boss Mustapha, described the anniversary as a celebration of faith, courage, and perseverance. He urged the leadership to preserve the Chapel's ecumenical character while respecting religious diversity. The celebration featured the presentation of awards to deserving individuals.

Danjuma's appeal to Adamawa residents to support Tinubu's re-election bid is significant, given the state's importance in Nigerian politics. The development highlights the ongoing efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and development in the country. Key stakeholders, including government officials and religious leaders, are working together to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.
