French sports commentator Daniel Riolo expressed outrage over Cristiano Ronaldo's sudden departure from Portugal's training camp on September 30. During an appearance on RMC's After Foot, Riolo associated Ronaldo with Elon Musk, describing them as "transhumanists" who exist in a different world. Riolo's comments were sparked by Ronaldo's decision to leave the camp, which came amid reports of tension between Ronaldo and Portugal coach Jorge Jesus.
Ronaldo's departure was confirmed by the player himself, who released a statement shortly after a press conference by Jesus. The coach had announced that Ronaldo would not be in the starting lineup for Portugal's upcoming Nations League match against Denmark. Ronaldo promised to reveal the truth behind his decision, but provided no further details. The Portuguese Football Federation stated that Ronaldo had left the training camp, but the remaining 24 players would continue with their preparations.
Riolo's criticism of Ronaldo was not limited to his departure from the camp. The commentator suggested that Ronaldo's behavior was evident on his Instagram account, implying that the player had been signaling his discontent. Riolo's remarks were laced with frustration, describing the situation as a "grotesque film." His comments reflect the growing controversy surrounding Ronaldo's relationship with Jesus and the Portuguese team.
Jorge Jesus has denied any rift with Ronaldo, stating that there was no incident or dispute between them. The coach revealed that he had met with Ronaldo due to the media attention surrounding their situation. Jesus emphasized that the team would continue to prepare for the match against Denmark without Ronaldo, who had been a key player for Portugal.
Ronaldo's decision to leave the training camp has sparked intense debate in the football world. The player's actions have raised questions about his commitment to the team and his relationship with Jesus. As Portugal prepares to face Denmark, the team's ability to cope without Ronaldo will be closely watched.
The incident has also sparked discussion about the role of star players in team dynamics. Ronaldo's influence on the team is undeniable, but his behavior has raised concerns about his priorities. As the situation continues to unfold, fans and pundits will be watching closely to see how it affects Portugal's performance in the Nations League.
The controversy surrounding Ronaldo's departure has overshadowed Portugal's preparations for their upcoming match against Denmark.
