The Dangote Group has emphasized the importance of domestic production in enhancing Nigeria's economic resilience. According to Mr. Abdullahi Bello Danmusa, Group General Manager, the company's investments across various sectors reflect its commitment to supporting Nigeria's industrialization and contributing to the development of a more productive and resilient economy. Danmusa made these remarks at the Dangote Special Day during the Abuja International Trade Fair.

Danmusa stressed that taxation remains a fundamental component of national development, and the Dangote Group takes its tax obligations seriously, contributing substantial revenues to the government annually. He also highlighted that trade can achieve greater economic impact when supported by strong domestic productive capacity. The theme of the trade fair, "Resilience: Trade, Taxation and the Economy," aligns with the realities of the current economic situation.

The Dangote Group continues to invest in manufacturing and industrial capacity across various sectors, including cement, sugar, salt, and seasoning, packaging, fertilizer, petrochemicals, and petroleum refining. Danmusa noted that strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity will help deepen economic activity, create jobs, support local enterprises, and reduce excessive dependence on imported products. This, he believes, is crucial for Nigeria's economic resilience.

Prof. Adebisi Adesugba, First Deputy President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, commended Dangote Industries for its contribution to Nigeria's economic development. He acknowledged the longstanding partnership between Dangote and the Chamber, demonstrating the important role of responsible corporate participation in promoting commerce, investment, and entrepreneurship in Nigeria and across the African sub-region.

Adesugba noted that Dangote's strategic investments in sectors such as cement, fertilizer, agriculture, refining, and petrochemicals have contributed to strengthening domestic productive capacity, creating employment opportunities, reducing dependence on imports, and supporting foreign exchange generation. The partnership between ACCI and Dangote has created opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs while supporting trade, investment, and sustainable economic development.

The Dangote Special Day brought together business leaders, government representatives, investors, exhibitors, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders to engage on issues around taxation, trade, industrialization, investment, domestic production, and the broader prospects for Nigeria's economic development. This event was part of the activities at the ongoing Abuja International Trade Fair.

The Dangote Group's call for increased domestic production capacity is a crucial step towards achieving economic resilience in Nigeria. The company's commitment to investing in various sectors and supporting the government's revenue generation efforts through tax obligations is a testament to its dedication to the country's economic development. Key stakeholders, including business leaders and government representatives, have acknowledged the importance of this initiative.
