The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has launched a groundbreaking Student Share Grant Initiative to help young Nigerians begin their investment journey early. The initiative aims to introduce thousands of young people to the principles of saving, responsible investing, and ownership through direct participation in the ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE (DPRP). This program is open to students aged 18 years and above in public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Under the programme, an eligible student who successfully completes the required verification process and subscribes for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares through the designated platform, ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org, will qualify for the Foundation to fund an application for an additional 10 DPRP shares in the student’s name at no additional cost. This initiative forms part of ADF’s broader commitment to empowering young Nigerians through education, economic inclusion, and practical financial knowledge.
Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, stated that the programme is designed to give young Nigerians a meaningful introduction to investment and ownership. He emphasized that supporting young people goes beyond providing access to education, but also involves equipping them with the knowledge and opportunities to participate in economic growth and wealth creation.
According to Alhaji Dangote, exposing young people to investment opportunities at an early stage can significantly influence their future financial decisions and encourage greater participation in the formal economy. He believes that when young people understand ownership and investment early, they are better positioned to make informed financial choices, build wealth responsibly, and contribute more actively to economic development.
Chief Executive Officer of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Mrs. Zouera Youssoufou, noted that the initiative bridges the gap between financial education and practical experience. She stated that financial literacy becomes more impactful when people can apply what they learn, and this programme allows eligible students to experience first-hand how the investment process works.
Mrs. Youssoufou added that the Foundation’s objective extends beyond a single IPO transaction, as they seek to inspire a lifelong interest in financial literacy, investing, and asset ownership among young Nigerians. The knowledge and experience gained through this initiative can serve as a foundation for sound financial decision-making throughout their lives.
Eligible students aged 18 years and above enrolled in recognised public or private tertiary institutions across Nigeria can visit ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org to complete the student verification process. Upon successful verification, participants will be directed to the designated subscription channel where they may apply for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares in their own name and for their own benefit.
