As the final quarter of the year approaches, CEOs in Ghana are being urged to sharpen their leadership focus on a few critical priorities that will have the greatest impact on their organisation's performance. According to Ernest De-Graft Egyir, CEO advisor and Founding CEO of Chief Executives Network Ghana, Q4 is not the time to allow competing priorities to dilute execution. Instead, it is a time to clarify what must be achieved, what can wait, and where leadership intervention is required.
Mr. Egyir has outlined several key strategies for CEOs to consider during Q4. These include identifying the three to five priorities that matter most for the quarter, connecting each priority to a measurable business outcome, and aligning financial, human, and operational resources with those priorities. Additionally, CEOs should remove bottlenecks that could delay execution and establish a regular executive review of Q4 performance.
To ensure success, CEOs must also take specific leadership actions. These include confirming the organisation's most critical Q4 priorities, clearly communicating what success must look like by December 31, and holding executives accountable for measurable outcomes, not just activities. Mr. Egyir suggests that CEOs ask their executive team, "If we could accomplish only three things before year-end, what would create the greatest value for the organisation?"
The importance of leadership focus in determining organisational focus cannot be overstated. When the CEO creates clarity around the few priorities that matter most, the organisation can direct its energy toward execution rather than spreading resources across too many competing demands. This, in turn, can lead to greater value creation for the organisation.
Mr. Egyir, who convenes the Ghana CEO Summit and served on Ghana's Economic Dialogue Planning Committee, is a well-known thought leader in Ghana. His insights are based on his experience working with CEOs and his understanding of the challenges they face in driving organisational performance.

As the year draws to a close, CEOs in Ghana will be under pressure to deliver results. By focusing on a few critical priorities and taking specific leadership actions, they can set their organisations up for success in Q4 and position themselves for a strong start to the new year.
