The successful candidate will be responsible for providing transport services, driving, maintaining, and managing hospital-assigned vehicles in accordance with logistics and fleet guidelines. The driver will be responsible for transporting goods, staff, and authorized passengers in hospital vehicles, adhering to local traffic laws and hospital rules and regulations. They will also be required to ensure punctuality and safe transportation of visitors, co-workers, and patients. Additionally, the driver will perform daily vehicle checks, maintain vehicle log books, and ensure that vehicles are kept tidy and clean at all times.
To qualify for the position, applicants must have a Uganda Certificate of Education with at least a pass in English language, a valid driving permit for classes C1, C, D1, and D, and at least 3-5 years of clean driving record in an NGO or healthcare setting. A certificate in Logistics and Motor Vehicle Mechanic is an added advantage. The ideal candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, be computer literate, and able to work under pressure.
The driver will also be expected to participate in the hospital's Spiritual Ministry programs, attend chapel and departmental bible studies, and participate in department meetings and general co-workers' meetings. They will be required to follow and comply with health and safety policies, processes, and procedures, and identify, report, and self-manage hazards where appropriate.
In terms of vehicle maintenance and operation, the driver will be responsible for daily checks, maintaining vehicle log books, and ensuring that vehicles are in good working condition. They will also be required to report any apparent malfunction to their supervisor and ensure that vehicle repairs and maintenance are carried out on time and properly.
The hospital is looking for a highly organized and meticulous individual who is flexible and able to work under pressure. The successful candidate will have a good command of English language, both written and verbal, and be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.
