The Central Securities Depository (CSD) has introduced a new digital platform, Investor Connect, to enhance accessibility and transparency in Ghana's capital market. Launched in Accra on September 22, 2026, the platform allows investors to access information on their securities holdings and transaction history digitally. Prospective investors can also open securities accounts online, eliminating geographical barriers to participation in the capital market. This development is part of the CSD's efforts to place investors at the center of the capital market.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer of the CSD, Mr. Joseph O. Lartey, emphasized the significance of Investor Connect. He stated that the platform provides investors with a direct and convenient digital interface with the CSD. Mr. Lartey noted that the ultimate objective is to remove barriers discouraging people from investing in the capital market. He recalled proposing a web portal for investors to access their securities accounts about two decades ago, which was initially met with skepticism.

The Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), Ms. Abena Amoah, who chairs the steering committee for the CSD's system upgrade, highlighted the potential of Investor Connect. She mentioned that the CSD's upgraded system now supports nearly 1.7 million investor accounts, a significant increase from 647,000 a decade ago. Ms. Amoah urged investors to utilize the platform and provide feedback to help improve it, emphasizing that a platform's value lies in its usage.

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, commended the CSD for launching Investor Connect, citing its role in strengthening transparency and confidence in the capital market. He stressed that digital access must be accompanied by financial literacy and investor protection. Dr. Asiama charged the CSD to ensure the platform's security, reliability, and accessibility while continuously improving the service based on investor feedback.

Dr. Zakari Mumuni, First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, described Investor Connect as a "bridge" connecting investors to their securities, making it easier for them to access their holdings. The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. James Kludze Avedzi, called for greater interoperability between financial platforms to widen participation in the capital market. He emphasized that digitalization can help remove barriers created by distance, bureaucracy, and cumbersome processes.

The launch of Investor Connect marks another step towards a more connected, technology-driven, and investor-focused capital market in Ghana. The platform is expected to increase investor participation and enhance the overall efficiency of the capital market. With Investor Connect, investors can now access their securities holdings and transaction history digitally, promoting transparency and confidence in the market.

The introduction of Investor Connect is a significant milestone in the CSD's transformation and efforts to prioritize investors' needs. The platform's success will depend on its adoption and usage by investors. As Ghana's capital market continues to evolve, Investor Connect is poised to play a crucial role in increasing accessibility and transparency, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the market.
