According to the latest predictions from the IGAD's Climate Prediction and Applications Centre, heavy rains are expected in several countries of the Horn of Africa, including Djibouti, due to the El Niño phenomenon.
Crisis Meeting
Djibouti's Minister of the Interior, Omar Abdi Said, chaired an extraordinary crisis meeting on Sunday to anticipate the risks related to heavy rainfall expected between October and December 2026. The meeting discussed the strengthening of coordination between concerned services, identifying the most exposed areas, and implementing preventive measures and intervention devices.
Representatives from other institutions involved in crisis management were also present at the meeting.
