The Convention People's Party (CPP) of Ghana has initiated a nationwide membership drive aimed at engaging Ghanaians, particularly the youth, farmers, market women, students, and professionals, in reshaping the country's political landscape. This effort seeks to reach individuals who still believe in what the party describes as the "true Ghanaian dream".

According to Joyce Larbie, Acting First Vice-Chairperson of the CPP Working Committee in charge of Finance, the party remains committed to a political tradition that prioritizes the interests and welfare of ordinary Ghanaians. The CPP, under the leadership of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, led Ghana to independence and has a legacy of focusing on the needs of its citizens.

Mrs. Larbie described the current political situation in Ghana as a "duopoly of disappointment", with the country's two dominant political parties alternating in government without adequately addressing pressing issues such as economic hardship, unemployment, and debt. She emphasized that it is time for a change and for the CPP to return as a political force that genuinely has the people at heart.

The CPP's historical contributions to Ghana's development were highlighted by Mrs. Larbie, including efforts in industrialisation, education, and healthcare. The party established state-owned enterprises like Tema Steel and Akosombo Textiles to promote industrialisation. It also championed free education and healthcare, demonstrating its commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians.

To facilitate the membership drive, the CPP has introduced a simplified registration process. Prospective members can register by dialling 920 18# on any mobile network, a process that takes just minutes without requiring long forms or bureaucratic procedures. This ease of registration is aimed at encouraging more Ghanaians to join the party.

Mrs. Larbie encouraged Ghanaians seeking a different political direction to join the CPP, emphasizing the need for real change in the political landscape. She called for the restoration of a Ghana that works for all its citizens, not just a few, and invited those interested in the party's vision to take advantage of the membership drive.

The CPP's nationwide membership drive is a strategic move to provide Ghanaians with a credible alternative political platform. By engaging more citizens in the political process, the party aims to contribute to meaningful change and address the socio-economic challenges facing the country. The initiative reflects the CPP's commitment to revitalizing its presence and influence in Ghanaian politics.
