In 2017, the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, while in opposition, questioned the status of road construction projects in the Fumbisi area, specifically highlighting the Chuchuliga-Sandema-Fumbisi road corridor. The sector Minister at the time indicated that 3.7 kilometres of roads within the Fumbisi township were under construction as part of the broader upgrading of the 40-kilometre Chuchuliga-Sandema-Weisi Road project.
The project, which commenced on December 16, 2016, had an original completion date of March 16, 2019, but was later extended to December 16, 2021, due to delays in payments. Despite the change in government in December 2024, with the NDC taking over from the NPP, concerns have emerged that the originally envisioned road project has been repackaged and reduced.
The NDC manifesto references the Busunu-Daboya-Yagaba-Fumbisi-Sandema-Chuchuliga corridor as part of its redesigned inter-regional road network. However, the Regional Minister's inspection visits focused primarily on ongoing works on the Chuchuliga-Sandema road. In August 2026, TV reports indicated that only 10KM of the 16KM of the Chuchuliga-Sandema road had been awarded to My Turn Limited.
During the 2025 Feok Festival, Hon. Clement Apaak, the area's MP, criticized some residents who had raised concerns on social media, describing them as ungrateful and accusing them of attempting to tarnish the image of the government. He assured the people of Builsa that the Navrongo-Chuchuliga-Sandema-Wiaga-Gbedema-Fumbisi-Weisi road corridor formed part of the government's Big Push Infrastructure Programme.
On July 25, 2025, Modern Ghana reported that the Ministry of Finance allocated funding towards the reconstruction of the Navrongo-Chuchuliga-Sandema road.
