A ceremony was held on October 30, 2026, at the Boulbinet Mosque in Conakry's Kaloum commune, where Imam Elhadj Aboubacar Kaba was elevated to the rank of Ambassador of Peace by the Universal Peace Federation. Elhadj Dieriba Diaby, president of the organization, officially presented the distinction to Imam Kaba. This recognition rewards the imam's commitment to Islam, spiritual education, and social cohesion in his community.
According to Elhadj Dieriba Diaby, the decision to award Imam Kaba the title of Ambassador of Peace was made two weeks prior, and the occasion was used to fulfill a promise made to the imam and other Guinean personalities, mostly religious leaders. The Universal Peace Federation aims to strengthen the involvement of these actors in promoting peace, tolerance, and coexistence in Guinea.
Elhadj Dieriba Diaby explained that the choice of Imam Kaba and other religious leaders reflects the federation's desire to leverage their influence in promoting peace. He noted that places of worship, such as mosques and churches, are essential in sensitizing believers to the importance of peace. Diaby emphasized that Guinea's stability is largely due to the understanding and cooperation between different faiths.
The president of the Universal Peace Federation also highlighted the significance of the Boulbinet Mosque, located in the administrative quarter of Guinea, where many ministries and even the President's residence are situated. He stressed that presenting the "key to peace" to Imam Kaba is a symbolic gesture, acknowledging the mosque's role in promoting peace.
Elhadj Dieriba Diaby called on all Guineans to make peace a collective responsibility and a permanent value, beyond periods of crisis or conflict. He shared his personal experience of promoting peace for over 30 years, emphasizing that peace must be prepared and cultivated daily, not just during times of war.
Imam Elhadj Aboubacar Kaba expressed his gratitude to God and Elhadj Dieriba Diaby upon receiving the Ambassador of Peace title. He acknowledged the recognition of his commitment to his community and Islam, and vowed to rely on divine assistance to fulfill his new responsibilities.
With 70 individuals now claiming the title of Ambassador of Peace in Guinea, Elhadj Dieriba Diaby's initiative aims to create a network of peace promoters across the country. The Universal Peace Federation's efforts focus on empowering influential figures, like Imam Kaba, to spread a message of peace and harmony.
